🌌 Welcome! Quick Guide
This is a real-time Solar System explorer. It’s built to be fun to use and grounded in real orbital data — but not perfectly to-scale (space is huge 😅).
🕹 How to use it:
- Click a planet or moon to see details.
- Focus to lock the camera onto it (then rotate freely).
- Use Time controls to jump forward/back and watch orbits move.
- Toggle Labels and Orbits for clarity.
✅ What’s accurate (the science bit):
- Planet paths are calculated using Kepler-style orbital elements.
- Moon orbits use real data from NASA/JPL Horizons (J2000 epoch), orbiting their parent planet.
- Rotation speeds follow the configured rotation hours (including retrograde spins).
🎨 What’s visual-only (by design):
- Planet sizes and moon distances are scaled for readability.
- Some moons may look “too close” because a true scale would make them tiny dots.
- Lighting, glow, and the starfield are stylised.
Coming soon: journals + telescope image uploads tied to planets, moons (and later satellites too).
